Mont Tremblant

On Thursday we spent a few sweltering hours at the Mont Tremblant ski hill. We all enjoyed the shops, gondola ride and fountain watching. Guy however, had the most fun when we found a coffee shop with wireless internet access... he checked his email and stocks... Yahoo!

Walking

Alice's favourite activity lately is walking. She could walk all day, and all she needs are a pair of fingers to hold onto for balance. We were all happy to oblige, mainly so that we could get in some good stares at the top of her head, but also to burn off some of those holiday calories.

The cottage

It seems that the link we previously posted to show you the cottage isn't working. So here are a few shots of the lovely home we rented for the week.

Super summer vacation

We snuck into a coffee shop that was close enough to a hotel to pirate a wireless internet signal and we took advantage to check up on Guy's email and update the blog. This has been an amazing week so far, great weather and lots of relaxing. A little ride in the "pedalo". If it looks like its tipping to one side, this is purely a camera trick... The view from the front deck of the cottage, there's me trying to catch the tiny sunfish that hang around the dock. We went to a local campground to a small beach on the Rouge River. The water was nice and the splashing was very refreshing. Gran, Grandad and Aunty K came down for a day and we had great time. The dock Alice discovering the pseudo-science forestry (just kidding J) The lake we are staying on is not so convenient for swimming for the little one, so we made do with what we had. She didn't seem to mind one bit!! The view of the lake early in the morning.

We're all going on a summer holiday...

We're off to the cottage! No, not our cottage, we've rented one for the week. We will be staying near L'Annonciation, just north of Mont Tremblant, in a lovely cottage on a small lake. You can check it out here: http://tinyurl.com/377vbv Picture it: swimming, fishing, walking and campfires! And we'll report back at the end of the week. xxx Team Aluguy. Grandad, do you remember when we used to go on big trips (camping, Maine...) and you would pack the car the night before? Huffing and puffing because you surely couldn't squeeze everything into the back of the car... (especially once Katherine and I were teens - what could we possibly need all those shoes for?!) Well this morning, Guy tackled the big job and only made a few sighs and comments.

Antics

Since Guy has been home, we've had some good times, and some very good times! Take a look... Guess who dressed Alice this morning? Green shirt, blue overalls, purple socks... Thanks for my new t-shirt Aunty Katherine. You really should give peas a chance! Down to the metro, headed to the city! An outing with Gran and Grandad. "Or the fireman's pole!"

We interrupt this blog...

... to bring you an important news update: Guy is home! (or in Potterspeak: the eagle has landed) We are so happy to be back together again as a family, that we almost forgot to take photos! But we remembered today when we picked Alice up from daycare and Silvana had a nice surprise for us: she gave our little beauty queen some pretty pigtails! It seems that every now and again, Silvana gives the girls new hairstyles at the daycare. She says they line up for it because they enjoy it so much! They are a bit hard to see... will have to get a better photo after her nap (but they could be gome by then!) Father and daughter, together again!

1 more sleep (and it's underway for Alice)

Guy will be home tomorrow. Phew. Now we can toss the paper plates, and break out the real dishes! Alice is having a great week at daycare, still getting used to all the hubbub and wombats, but generally enjoying herself more and adapting to the routine. While she's waiting, mum still drives aimlessly around the neighborhood, singing Raffi songs and planning the next meal adventure, but her perimeter is slowly expanding... Here are some pics from the past 2 days (yes, more photos of sweetpea eating!) An avocado dip facial! (she loved rubbing her hands together when they were covered in the dip) Hey, there are toys in this box! My toys! Cool! Alice had received 2 pairs of slippers in the same size last summer, so today we finally exchanged them for a bigger, bluer pair.

So much to tell you!

Daddy, here is another post especially for you (but for others to enjoy also), because we know that you are getting so excited to come home in only 3 sleeps! First of all, did you remember that today was PHOTO SHOOT DAY? Yes, Alice is ten months old! For her ten month birthday, her top two teeth decided to finally make an appearance (or at least I think so, it is hard to see past the wriggling!) So Alice now has a total of 7 teeth! Ah, ah, ah! No peeking at the photo shoot pictures yet! This looks like a good snack, mummy... Ah, here is the real snack (of course Alice gets to eat grated apple only, but she did enjoy sucking on the core) We have had a little brown, white-tailed visitor 2 days in a row. We have been as close as 3 feet away, without scaring the little guy. Aunty Katherine dropped in for a visit and Alice showed off her pool. They splashed a little... And then Alice convinced Katherine to plop her in! "You made the right decision Aunty Katherine" Ha, Ha! Aunt
