Winnipeg Wonders

As mentioned, our whirlwind visit with Unky G is on right now. In a few short days, he will be leaving for the next installment of conquering the theater world of Canada... In Winnipeg! Gareth will be in an MTC production of Romeo and Juliet this winter. He is staying at a place downtown, and eager to discover all the wonders of the city (and province?) that we've told him about over the years. We happen to know that most of our blog followers have either grown up in, lived in, or source spouses from (Pascale!?! c'est nous!) the great city and so we're asking for your tips in making Gareth's stay in the city a fantastic and memorable one. After all, he follows up this stay with a stint in Edmonton, and we don't want Edmonton to out-do Winterpeg , right? So share some of your Winnipeg love with Gareth, and post some recommendations of things to do and see. Golden Boy and the Tiny Troubles.

Our precious baby brother has returned from another intense season at Stratford. We are all falling all over ourselves to spend time with him, and he is sucking every possible moment of pleasure out of being with his three nieces. Here he is pushing Estelle and Olivia to their first roller-derby practice. They twisted his arm...

Cheval

Alice drew the horse, Maximus, from Rapunzel, along with Flynn Rider and Rapunzel herself. Play, the torso is a little skinny, but how about that horse's neck and head? What do you think, Pépé, did she get the lines right?

Colombia

When you think Colombia, think this: Leaf Cutter Ants . Calamari rice in its "tinta". I thought tinta was red wine (tinto...). Its squid ink. It was delicious, as long as you didn't look at it. Typical landscape. Buena vista!!

They call us "The Cones"

We signed Alice up for the Laval skating club this winter. First lesson was Friday and we're pleased to report that in the space of 1 hour she learned to stand up and walk on skates by herself, to get around by leaning on a cone, and to nearly abandon the cone. Not sure if we're going to keep with it, since it's kind of a unorganized bunch. But she certainly enjoyed herself and is ready for a pair of sparkly legwarmers ( Auntie Katherine, do you have any leftover from high school?)

Pommes 2011

Tractor ride. Hobby farm. Apples. Apple pies and crumbles. See you next year.
