A new haircut deserves... new shoes!

Isn't that right girls? And not just one pair of shoes, but TWO! (daddy - you think that's bad... you should see how many pairs of shoes mummy bought...)

Bragadocious

Forgot to mention to you dad, that at the store yesterday an observant stranger said to us that Alice "speaks very well for her age. Not quite two? She is really quite advanced making sentences" This coming from someone in a school-supply store - where only the very most intelligent people hang out. Thought you, and the entire blogosphere , should know.

Pics for you, dad

Hmmm... yours looks good too! (Katherine - she likes the outfit!) (another near-miss in the bath... but we made it to the toilet)

Vegas, baby!

After much web-surfing and soul searching, we decided that we would be able to leave our precious little one for a mini-trip-for-two in Las Vegas. Once the lists were written (with bolded emergency numbers), and Alice was safely handed over to Gran and Grandad, we jetted over to the airport to, barely make our flight to the city that never sleeps (wait - is that New York? well, in this case it's Vegas!) We stayed at the Treasure Island hotel and casino right on the Las Vegas strip. Vegas is everything you've seen in the movies - bright lights, non-stop entertainment, decadent food, big money, and beautiful people. We tried to strike a good balance between taking it all in and taking a break... The room The view The famous fountains at the Bellagio hotel - choreographed to Sinatra! Guy is ready for the nightlife! Indoor the Venitian hotel - at 10pm! The sky painted ceiling and bright likes make it seem like midday all the time. All the better to keep tourists spending! A day

Alice's holiday at Gran and Grandad's

What could be better than a summer getaway in the Laurentians . Some people would pay big bucks for this kind of nature retreat. But would they get to drive in the Yellow Van or eat Shawbridge fries? I don't think so. Our little Alice was lucky enough to stay with her grandparents while mum and dad were off gallivanting in the desert. It's difficult to say who had the most fun... Alice or Gran and Grandad. Well, we don't have much proof of how ecstatic Gran and Grandad were to have Alice stay for them for a few days, but here are some pictures of Alice enjoying herself. (And if you want to imagine what Gran and Grandad look like after their wonderful holiday - picture two tired and happy people crashed out on the couch!) Looking at pictures while Gran steals a cuddle. Shouldn't there be water in here? It's ok baby. Mummy and Daddy will be home soon... The jumpy jump makes another appearance! Bree pushing Alice on the swing. They had to share some good times

A new member of the family...

No, Alice's little sister isn't here yet, but we got a new camera!

Early morning cooking - al fresco

Finally, a day without rain. Alice was overjoyed to get outside and make some broccoli soup. This soup has all of the essential ingredients: Grass Water And dirt! (this t-shirt will do for wiping my hands...)

Mullet baby

Memories from January 2008... Our little girl not so long ago.

Is it really be true?

Does my very favorite food come in a handy, portable CAKE format? Why didn't you guys tell me about these sooner? Alice's first taste of Rice Krispy squares Heaven on Earth!

La seule photo d'une belle petite visite...

Reviens bientot Mémé. Et emmènes Pépé avec toi!

Toddler Linguistics

For the past few weeks, every time Alice is in the bath she holds her two pirate toys stuck together, one in front of the other, and says "Poo-pah". Now I'm no expert, but as any conscientious parent can tell you (as well as anyone who's ever watched Law and Order - SVU), I sure wanted to know what this meant. Imagine my delight this evening, when I finally deciphered that what she is saying is "Pousse pas". Obviously something she picked up at daycare. Out of the mouths of babes...

Time for the Allen key

In preparation for Alice's big move downstairs in October we have started to prepare her room(Yes, she is moving downstairs. No, this doesn't make us bad parents. And, no we are not feeling any apprehension whatsoever about the event...) Here is a shot of Alice with Auntie Katherine, showing off the new wardrobe. To be filled with lots of pretty dresses and fuzzy pj's. A big thank-you to Grandad for helping Lucy put it together.

Secret Admirer

Alice and I received these flowers at our doorstep this week. It seems someone misses us...
