Owls in her pants.

Lucy once worked with someone (who shall remain nameless) who claimed that when he was a little boy the swooshing sound his corduroy pants made when he walked made him think there were owls in them...

I'm still not sure if he was kidding... but here is Alice in her cords.

And here is a question for you: was there something unusual that you believed as a child?

p.s. Alice is 11 months today!

I'll go first...

When I was a kid, I used to believe that at every traffic light there was someone watching from a window nearby. That person would change the lights depending on who had been waiting the longest and most deserved to go ahead. Life always had to be FAIR!

I'm thinking, I'm thinking....oh, here's one. A nun came to our house for supper when I was little. Much to my surprise she actually went to the bathroom. I guess that I didn't think of nuns as .. people?

When I was 12 or so I thought that I was a Prince; however to ensure that I had a normal upbringing I couldn't find out of my sovereign status. Not only was EVERYONE in on the ruse but there was a whole parallel set of media that had ALOT of coverage on my development. Due to lack of resources of my kingdom I only had access to 5 "fake TV channels" growing up. I worked all the details over a few months, but I eventually figured it was highly improbable (why would the bullies treat me such disrespect). You wanted crazy childhood stuff; you got it. Owls in pants? psshha.

This is a great question! I used to believe that "impaired driving" meant driving with an odd number of people in your vehicle (because the French word "impaire"). I never quite understood why zooming around with 1, 3 or 5 people in your vehicle was so wrong. Also, for the longest time, I thought the "L" and "R" on contact lens cases stood for "Lyse" and "René". Finally, there were a few things I didn't believe in as a kid that seem funny today, namely evaporation and glaciers...

Love this question...
I believed that there were monsters (goolygangers) in our basement and that if I brought Lucy into the basement to get something they'd eat her first since at the time I could run quicker. I also believed Gareth could NOT be my brother...so did he apparently. Katherine

Sillyse
