Silly

Alice covered in broccoli and cheese stickers from Mum's magazine Estelle playing after a snooze. (Those two bottom teeth are getting long; and now the top two are out... but it's the pair on either side of the front ones!)

Summer Fête

We spent the afternoon in Morin-Heights, where the church organized a fundraiser which featured a white elephant sale, buried treasure game, egg-run and the infamous Lucky Dip! Both Alice and Estelle enjoyed eating outside and watching all of the big kids run around. "I didn't hear him say not to hold it..."

Someone's gotta do it...

With Guy away for another rotation, Alice has been given the chore of maintaining the lawn. No uniform provided.

Award-winner

This spring we planted about 30 zucchini and pumpkin seeds. After some late frost and errant gardening, we have only one plant left. One, giant, Little Shop of Horrors- esque plant! It has taken over the entire front flower bed and is now creeping across the driveway. And we swear not to have fed it any growth hormones!

Good Company

We were lucky enough to have three great friends/beach bums/ baby helpers with us on our vacation. Thank-you to Gran, Grandad and Auntie Katherine for sharing the week with us. And we hope that we are all still friends after Estelle's early morning wake-ups, Alice's toy-explosion in the living room, Guy's constant ' helpfulness ' teasing, and Lucy's uber - sun protection .

After 2 glorious days on the beach, we had to head for the shops, play in our itty bitty living room, and wade over to the ice-cream parlour. But we still managed to play in the sand every day. On our lasy morning, we checked out the huge waves that only a few brave surfboarders were attacking.

Ocean Park, Maine

We've been dreaming about and planning this vacation for months, and all our preparations paid off when we hit the road last Saturday night. After weighing our options (screaming baby vs. losing a few hours on the beach) we elected to leave at Estelle's bedtime and drive through the night. Despite the abundance of moose warning signs and an unnerving lack of other vehicles on the road, we made it to the rented house in just under 6 hours. Our housemates had arrived earlier in the day and made up our beds, so we simply carried the girls in and crashed. The next two days were spent on the beach - playing in the sand, boogie-boarding and just taking in the salt air. We also enjoyed the famed sub sandwiches and raspberry-lime rickys from the Soda Fountain. Then came the clouds and rain... and the hung around for a few days. So we enjoyed shopping at the mall, a day at the outlets and LL Bean in Freeport, and a couple of hours at Target. Gotta love the American deals. Throughout ou...
