Happy Hoppy

Last month Gran slipped in the backyard and broke her ankle... it's been tough for her to stay entertained, but the occasional visit from her grandchildren does wonders for morale!

So sorry to hear that you Mom injured her ankle. As a fellow "broken ankle" survivor make sure that she does some physiotherapy when the cast comes off. It will initially be difficult to walk or keep her balance as the little muscles that control the foot atrophy when you have a cast on. Many of the exercises just have to do with balance (standing on one foot) but they serve to strengthen up the muscles. Another trick if something similar should happen again is to get an "air cast" rather than a plaster version. You can take if off in the bath to wash your leg, hence no itchy agony in the latter stages of healing.

Best of luck with the recovery.
