Embarrassing

I noticed lately that when I bend down to kiss Alice during school drop-off, she lowers her head into the collar of her coat. Suspicious. So I asked her about it at bedtime and she confirmed my worst fears - "Mummy, it's embarrassing when you kiss me on the mouth" Argh! We came to a healthy compromise, that I could kiss her cheek and give her a hug. But there was more - she wants to make sure I don't wave and say goodbye for too long as she walks away into the playground.

Shall I simply hide in the shadows or behind a tree to spy on her? Can I read her diary? Break into her Facobook account? Don't parents have rights?!?!?!?

Remember, she still loves you. Just no showing affection in front of her peers. Wait until she asks you to drive her to the mall, but then disappear until pickup time. It will get worse (for you) before it gets better but it is all a necessary part of growing up.
Hugs to all,
Paul
