Movember

You may be wondering: Guy looks so damn sophisticated... is it the map in the background, or the vintage mini organ, or the modern fruit bowl, or that the picture is on its side. Well you're right. Nice job. Did you notice the  moustache ? Ah, yes it is Movember again. Time to let the inner Selleck out. Embarrassing

I noticed lately that when I bend down to kiss Alice during school drop-off, she lowers her head into the collar of her coat. Suspicious. So I asked her about it at bedtime and she confirmed my worst fears - "Mummy, it's embarrassing when you kiss me on the mouth" Argh! We came to a healthy compromise, that I could kiss her cheek and give her a hug. But there was more - she wants to make sure I don't wave and say goodbye for too long as she walks away into the playground. Shall I simply hide in the shadows or behind a tree to spy on her? Can I read her diary? Break into her Facobook account? Don't parents have rights?!?!?!?

Ah-nou-ette

Estelle mentioned the other day that at her daycare, they dance to two songs: Shufflin' and Ah-Nou-Ette. While we all knew the first song, we were confused by the second one... You mean "Alouette, gentille aloutette..."? No she said and sounded it out for us ignorant parents: Ah-Nou-Ette!!! After guessing many wildly different songs, Alice finally clued in and told us Estelle was referring to the LMFAO song "I'm sexy and I know it". Of course! We should have known.

Estelle's Sunday Shindig

Back to the classic family party for Estelle. So nice for us to have a chance to chat with friends instead of being overrun with kids, kids and more kids. What's more important however, was that Estelle thoroughly enjoyed herself. She was happy to play with the kids, share her toys (and cake) and even hug and thank everyone for her lovely gifts. Cookie decorating Ta-dah! Olivia likes icing! Lick, Lick. Tailgate birthday party! Voila! Girls in costumes. Ta-dah again (the amount of work that went into this merits 2 photos...) Sit back and enjoy your moment, Estelle Emma eats cake!!!! Pressies, pressies are coming...

Santa Claus Parade

Our first time at the Santa Claus Parade this year. We, along we a bazillion other lavalites, took the metro into the city and lined up four families deep to watch the floats go by. Best part - the marching bands. Worst part - waiting 2 hours for Santa to have his back to us the whole time his float passed our area.       Bums, bums, all we see from down here are bums!

Cake and Costumes

Our baby Estelle is four years old today! Seems like such a short time ago she joined our happy family, and now she's growing up into a thoughtful, creative, independent and sensitive little soul. As you've surely noticed, even her drawings have character oozing out of them. Happy Birthday to our little wild turkey!   Dunno what's in there, but it's a big box!  A lovely card drawn and handwritten from my big sister  Costumes from Lyse & René Not jealous, just waiting for cake...

Halloween 2012

This year was a little tame because Estelle was feeling a little under the weather. Dad had worked on a multimedia presentation that produced quite a reaction from the kiddies and adults alike. Click on the link below to see the final product. If you get tired of watching skip to near the end; there are a few cool effects. I explained some of the steps I took to prepare the show in my "Patenteur" blog (see the sidebar for the link). But for the movie portion I merely filmed the scene with a camera at the same position as the projector the previous weekend, and carefully lined up the projected video with features on front door for the playback.
