2GBs of photos = Yes, we had fun!

Voila the pics from our wonderful Caribbean cruise. We returned yesterday evening after enjoying a week aboard the glamorous Carnival Liberty ship.

The week in review:

Fort Lauderdale - It was such a glorious feeling to get off the plane and feel the warm air seep through our many layers of clothing! We hurried to our (gorgeous) hotel to get into our flip flops and shorts, and then explored the hotel and its surroundings (picking up a few last minute items at Walgreens)

Enbarkment - Due to a medical emergency on our ship during the previous cruise, we boarded several hours late. Instead of strolling onto the ship with plenty of time to relax, and for Alice to enjoy her nap, we were bused to town for an afternoon of waiting. Upon our return to the port, we had to join the neverending line-ups to board. Besides our own medical problems (see below) this was pretty much the low point of the vacation. Line-ups and delays definitely make holiday-makers antsy and irritable.

The ship - If you have never seen one of these ships, we definitely recommend it as a decadent and entertaining vacation. The 450 million $ ship has it all: lounges, bars, theatre, internet cafe, restaurants, spa, pools, gym, giant poolside screen, golf simulator, and of course Guy's favorite - the casino!


The food - An entire separate comment for the food? It was that good. And plentiful. And varied. And delicious. And did I mention it was abundant? There are limitless food options on board, and you can eat as casual (poolside burgers, fries and ice cream) as fancy (daily four course meals in an impressive dining room) and as often as you like. Some of our favorites included the sandwich bar, the pizza, the chocolate buffet, and the cottage cheese (Alice's refined palate enjoys only the best cottage cheese)

Nassau, Bahamas - Here we ventured out on our own to unearth a private paradise... But eventually ended up at the main beach and attraction: Atlantis. This resort is open to the public to view the beatiful interior, including the aquariums. The beach was the loveliest we saw, and Guy spotted a few fish while snorkling only a few feet into the water. Alice loved playing along the edge of the waves and quickly learned that sand is not edible.

Grand Cayman, Cayman Islands - Alice was not feeling very well during this stop, so we kept it low key. We did however, enjoy a scenic drive around the island, and a visit to a turtle farm. And we ate a "Cayman Patty".

Ocho Rios, Jamaica - By this time Alice was on the mend, so we were able to visit Dunn's River falls (Guy climbed the falls, Lucy and Alice enjoyed the beach)





The Ear Infection - Perhaps due to the slight cold she travelled with, we wound up in the infirmary with Alice 2 days in a row. She was eventually diagnosed with and ear infection, given antibiotics, and recovered in time to enjoy the rest of the cruise. She especially loved the fountains on the ship. She also loved playing in the Camp Carnival playroom (during toddler time)
