A Reading Recommendation...

So no big deal or anything, but ALICE WROTE A BOOK!!! and PUBLISHED IT!!! and you can buy it on AMAZON!! Check it out here:  At the Edge of the Bluff So proud of you Alice! An author at 15!!!

Happy Birthday Gran!

Another great family gathering (minus the Kitchener crew) for Gran's birthday.  Thank you Alice for the very profesh cake! Not her everyday makeup - some Halloween lewks!

Trooper

Halloween wasn't quite the same this year without Alice, the cousins and WHERE WERE ALL THE TRICK OR TREATERS??? But Estelle still did a round of houses in the blustery wind. Candy is a great motivator...

Simpler Times... but still scarrrrrry

Our Halloween decorations are a little more toned-down this year, as the kids get older and Guy's knee is sprained. But we still put together this creepy spider cocoon getup for the neighborhood kiddies. Let's hope we have some customers on the 31st!

Who's That Courageous Person?

In a past life (like 20 years ago), Lucy was in the rock climbing club at CEGEP, and has a habit of much riskier behavior (scandalous!) So last week when some ex-colleagues invited her for a social climb, there was a lot of hesitation and an almost cancellation, but... she persevered... To quote a recent podcast favorite: "We can do hard things" (and it was fun!)

Niagara

There's nothing like a four-day weekend for a road trip and getaway to see one of the world's wonders... We piled into the car and headed for the Falls where we enjoyed a typical weekend of sightseeing, complete with great eats, a ferris wheel and go-kart racing.  Projection light show inside the old Niagara power plant Start your engines... Moments before we got completely drenched Girls are soaked! Midway treats Paying homage to the Nikola Tesla statue Classic photo of kids discussing a random story instead of marveling at the falls (I've personally done this at Stonehenge) Hotel room pile up

Farming

2021 was our most successful yet when it comes to gardening. Sure, we're still not pulling in wheelbarrows full of tomatoes, but we grew a ton of lettuce, cucumbers, tomatoes and 2 outrageously huge zucchini. (oh and some dahlias!)

La rentrée 2021

School is back on, full time in person for 2021. We're crossing our fingers that it stays that way and nobody has to return to zoom learning, which suits our only mildly social gang, but is surely not ideal for well rounded development, no? Secondary 4 / Grade 10 Secondary 1 / Grade 7

Camping Gatineau

Always a good time camping - and now we've brought back the luxury of a tent trailer so we can crank the heat when it's cold outside and eat at a dry table when it's pouring. Guy teaching us to make loon calls. We didn't quite get it... maybe next year

Alice Quincenera

Remember that little squirt from the earliest days of the blog back in 2006?? That squirt just turned 15!! She is in in grade 10 (Secondary 4 for the Quebec crowd), and she writes books, holds her own in a debate and bakes the most complicated recipes found online. Happy Birthday Alice we love you!! 🎂🎁 (this particular complicated cake made by Lucy)

The Blog is Back

So a funny thing happened the other day... Lucy took the plunge and left her job of 14 years. It was a scary move, but how else would she find out what other magnificent things she might be capable of??!! In all seriousness, it was equal parts devastating and liberating, and now it's on to a variety of things to keep her busy: online learning (Python, gender diversity in mining, LAW?!), walking and podcasting, and, best of all, more family time.  One of the upshots of this newfound, though likely temporary, surge in additional free time, is this renewal of the sadly neglected blog in recent years. So here's looking forward to a dump of past photos and perhaps some new ones. Hope all is well since we last saw each other.  xx TeamLuguy
