Kindergarten

Alice hit a major milestone today - her first day of REAL school. While the first day was only 1 1/2 hours long, it was a big step for those little wombats who are practically driving their own beat-up Chevy Novas to the corner dep for a bottle of Baby Duck before the Senior Dance... At least we have a few years breathing room before that stress. Alice was really excited, and totally ready for the big moment. She needing no prompting to join the group and follow her teacher, Ginette, into the inner sanctum - no parents allowed! The parents stood outside counting the minutes until our big kids came out. Seemed like a pretty chill first day. Lucy: "What did you do?" Alice: "Played with dollies and ate an apple" Man. Alice is gonna love that place! The post-school reward a hot-dog and french-fry lunch with mum.

First Big Day

Estelle had her first day at Harmonie Soleil today and is was a smashing success! Here is the little dear sparkling by her locker, she is in the "Abeille" (bee) group with a daycare provider called Sandra. While she did cry a few minutes when we dropped her off, it only lasted 5 minutes or so then she was off to the races - singing, playing, eating, sleeping. We are all very proud of her, and celebrated her return with confetti cupcakes!

Bye Bye Dalel

After a year of being shortlisted, Estelle is moving to a new daycare. Since Alice moved to the Harmonie Soleil CPE last year, Estelle has been on the waiting list, and finally got a spot. While we truly loved her previous daycare, we just couldn't turn down a much less expensive, government subsidised place. The toughest part about leaving is, without a doubt, saying goodbye to Dalel, Estelle's daycare provider. Dalel has really loved Estelle and taken such tremendous care of her this past year. Though it might not have sunk in for her that she is saying goodbye, we, the grown-ups, found it difficult. We know she will come to love her new spot though. Merci, merci, merci Dalel et à la prochaine!

Special Visit

Super Swing. Show time. Swimming in the lake. Sliding at Funtropolis.

Summer Party

Gran and Grandad had a summer party last week which was a blast, food, drink and friends. Getting the fire going after the rain storm. Parking lot. We setup the old camper so we didn't have to worry about getting home after. Desert Tent Salad tent and the sneaky salad tent ladies (mostly). Main stage.

300 steps

We visited the gates of hell's canyon this year. that has a 300 step walk down to the bottom. You can just make out the staircase beside the waterfall. View from below. Looking back up the staircase.

BIC Food

As always food is a big part of the camping experience. We tried a new variant on the Smores with a sugar cone with some sweet and crunchy fillings. Gourmet breakfast.

BIC BIC

More picturs of camping at BIC 2011. Having a gourmet lunch at the xylophone show. Campfire with some hot chocolate. Discovering the Inukshuk Garden at the bottom of the Devil's falls
