Early morning stories

Playdate

On Tuesday, Estelle got to hang out with her new friend, Hugo Jr, who was born 1 day after her! Mums/colleagues Lucy and Renee shared stories during their pregnancies, and now they get to compare notes on life with a newborn. Trying out each others bouncy chairs.

Splashing Sisters

Alice and Estelle are enjoying the "daphne" given to us by Simonne and Agathe. This nifty contraption allows the girls to be together, and gives mum and dad half a free hand.

Musee des enfants

This morning we went to the Children's Museum with Alice and Estelle's Matante Janette. Since we were up bright and early, we were the first customers to explore for the day. The museum allows little ones to explore all kinds of career paths. Working in the casse-croute. A piece of cake for mum, a donut for Janette and a burger for dad, please! Listening intently at school (guess who the teacher was?) Digging at the construction site. That will be $62.48 please, Janette. Pay up!

Manitoba Winter

Janette just got back from Manitoba and brought back some nice pics of Meme and Pepe's.

Family Portrait

Last week we found these letters lying on the bathroom counter: A for Alice, E for Estelle, G for Guy and M for Mummy. Alice had selected them from her fridge magnet set and carried them around in her clever little toddler hands. Next thing we know she'll be champion of the Laval spelling bee!

Geologists need not apply

The price of metals being 1/3 what they were just last spring mining companies are making tough decisions to stay afloat. Exploration is traditionally viewed as a capital expense with no short term income and is therefore targetted for cut-backs. We just had a round of layoffs at our office and have lost some good friends. We don't expect any more cuts for now. All the best to you guys. We'll be thinking of you.

Weight Watchers

It has been about six weeks since we've had a chance to weigh the little star, what with snowstorms and the Christmas holidays. So we were pleasantly surprised to find out yesterday that our skinny little girl is now a lanky 10 lbs 3 oz!

Puzzles

Alice and Gradad demonstrate the completed floor puzzle that is Alice's new passion. In fact, we will be visiting her friend Joellie this coming weekend, who is a puzzling demon, so Alice wants to be up to snuff with her piecing technique!

Chilly Days

It has been extremely cold here for the past few days (-30 deg Celsius!) so we are bundling up in warm layers and hoping that the car starts in the morning! Alice in the vest that her Great-Gran sent for Christmas. It's especially furry and soft around the collar!

Cookie time!

I can't see in the bowl, but I think I'm stirring something... Such concentration I'm ready for a job icing donuts at Timmie's! Dad reaping the rewards...

Bath time for Alice?

Snow Day

Last week we were blessed with another big dumping of snow, so the girls stayed home to play... Making a swimming pool with blocks. Alice wanted to do some dry-land training for her bubblin'. Prepared... Washing the food for supper? No... Getting ready to do some potato painting!

Caught on camera!

Estelle has been perfecting her beautiful smile for a few weeks, and we've been able to catch a few on camera. Now it's up to you to decide which one to save to your desktop!

Does this look like swimming?

We had planned on taking Alice to the pool over the holidays, and since today was the last before we get back to our routine, we suited her up... but the pool was closed! So Guy and Alice came home and played in the snow instead. She is wearing her swimsuit under there
