Come home soon Gran!

Sunday afternoon we hung out with Grandad, Auntie Katherine and Uncle Gareth. What a fun and relaxing time we had, but we all missed Gran, who is in Wales visiting with Alice's great-Gran.

Walkin' in a winter wonderland

On Saturday morning the three of us went out for a wintery stroll in the sun. Of course this was Alice's first ride in the toboggan, so we dressed her up warmly (a little too warmly, thought Guy) It was a lovely walk, but poor Alice fell asleep the moment we stepped out of the door! She just loves to make good use of her time and nap while she's in transit! We hope you are all keeping warm too! More blankets mom? Just a few more layers to be added... What a strong dad! He carried her across the snowless bits.

A new kind of fun

Alice has discovered the pleasure of hanging out on the kitchen floor while Lucy cooks/cleans. (check out my cute new outfit from memere) Also, everyone is having fun spinning or pulling Alice around on her blanket (expertly knit by Sarah).

So this baby walks into a bar and...

It's true! Alice has been frequenting a lovely local watering hole... Let us explain. In order for Alice's sleeping/eating routine to jive with the mommy-baby exercise class we are taking, we like to arrive early to feed and play before class starts. This unusual sports complex has a full service bar (well, not at 9 am), complete with comfy leather couches. So that's where we hang out! Here is a pic of the little one when we first arrived on Thursday. When she wakes up she loves staring at the neon "Danse Country" sign and the huge speckled brass doorknob on the iron gates (we never said it was a classy joint)

Reading together

Simonne and Pascale paid us a visit on Sunday. Here are the girls reading a story with Guy.

All smiles

What else does one do...

... in the waiting room? Alice's four-month check-up was on Thursday. Once again, she was off the charts for weight and height (and cuteness)! A question to our relatives: are there any 8-foot women in the family trees that we don't know about? But seriously... Alice is wonderfully healthy, weighing 15 pounds on the nose, and measuring 66.5 cm long (two thirds of a meter gasps daddy!) We are pretty sure that both Alice and the doctor will recover from the appointment without any lasting trauma (yes, she cried this time)

Goin' to college...

Alice has started saving up for college... Lucy & Guy will be the fund managers until she learns not to blow the cash on pacifiers and stuffed animals.

Happy birthday to me!

Monday was Alice's 4 month birthday. Already! My how time flies when you are having fun and learning all about life. What does one do on their four month birthday you might ask? Well, here is a sampler. (what a snowstorm outside!)

At the movies?!

Last week the three of us went to see our first movie as a family. Granted, it wasn't a family movie (Children of Men), and Alice wasn't really watching... but we all had a blast! "Movies 4 Mommies" (and daddies) is organized once a week at some local theatres. The volume is low in the theatre, there are diaper change tables, and the place is filled with kissable cheeks, and the sound of cooing and gurgling. Lucky us!

Back to normalcy.

We are back home and Alice is definately liking the old routine. We have had time to do our favorite things like: discovering new breakfast restaurants, going shopping, playing curling and hockey and Mom has started a new mother baby excercise class. I guess we all have a little excess mashed potatoes and tortiere to burn off at this time of year. This is dad trying to see if it is a good idea to leave Alice at the playstation at IKEA. Think REAL hard dad. Alice has found her air-valve and is inflating herself from time to time. Alice is practicing her "caught red handed face". Also commonly reffered to as the "hand in the cookie jar face"

When's dinner?

First time in the highchair!!! Of course Alice isn't eating "big people food" yet (i.e. nachos and chocolate milk), but we thought that she might like to join us at the table. Oh the things these walls will witness...

Miss me?

Christmas was awesome, New Year's was a blast... And through it all, Alice remained her cute self. Here are some pics to prove it! When life gives you lemons... make lemon curd! Alice enjoying her new playmat on Christmas morning Opening gifts with daddy Getting ready for church on Christmas eve After the children's service at the church where mummy & daddy got married Mother and daughter My dad told me that his homeland was flat... but I never expected this! Check out my legs! (new Christmas duds and socks) Alice's uncles bought her this great hammock in France. Great for lounging around in the summer sun! A pretty new party frock from Gran More french treats... A stylish outfit from Georges and Jacotte! Many thanks to everyone for all of Alice's wonderful Christmas gifts. We can't find enough time in the day to play with everything!

Family Party Madness

Finally meeting the family!!

Here it is the extended Desharnais Clan in front of the mammoth xmas tree. Her uncle came from another continent for a hold, and it looks like it was worth it. Pépere waited a very long time for this. Seeing all those "strangers" on the blog holding HIS grandaughter before him was downright maddening!! And tante J got some 1 on 1 time too!!

First out of womb flight!!

Alice was pretty blazé about her first flight to Manitoba to meet all those relatives that we have been talking about all this time. She was a little more apprehensive once she was on the plane. All in all it went very well; it turns out that all that humming and bumpiness is quite soothing.
