Any van of mine

Alice loves her Grandad's vans.

Driving the prized yellow van

Riding in the silver van (not to worry, she's in the carseat when it's running)

Do I have to?

Estelle has not quite taken to her solid food yet...

Independant woman

Our littlest one is now able to sit up on her own (for just a short while)

And then she tumbles!

How time flies

Here are some of the fun things we did in Guy's final days at home. We had such a great time, and can't wait for him to come home again!

Date night for mum and dad, means that Gran and Grandad came for supper and to hang out with Alice and (sleeping) Estelle, while Lucy and Guy went to the spa.

They say not to compare your children...

... but here are Alice and Estelle's monthly shots, ages 1-6 months.
Who do you think looks the angriest for the 1 month photo?!?

How nice for Alice to have company on the new swingset

Bejeweled

Alice is sporting the necklace Auntie K and Ben brought back from Ireland two summers ago.

Nice bling!

Teething

Estelle's first tooth appeared on Wednesday. Her fingers are now nice and soggy from chomping down on them.

More pixels...? No, more camera!

After many years of enjoyment from our point-and-shoot digital cameras (Canon, Sony, Panasonic - we've tried them all) we finally made the switch to a fancy digital SLR camera. What a difference! It actually takes pictures when you press the button, not 3 seconds later, when you're child is long gone. Magic!
Here are a couple of shots from the new camera (please note, we aren't automatically great photographers yet,we just have a great camera) Of course these girls would have been gorgeous if photographed with an old Polaroid, right?

Self-propelled fun!

Swingset!

At least one of our girls is now big enough for lots of swingin' and slidin', so dad got to work during his vacation, on building a fantastic little swingset for Alice and Estelle. After three short days, a little help from Lucy and Grandad, and a few minor modifications to the plans (Janette - are you surprised Guy put the kibosh on the monkey bars?) it was complete!

Our new country home is so comfy!
"Listen boy, I've built many a swingset in my time..."

Proud new owners
Yay, Estelle gets to use it too!

Swingset #2

Here is the "re-patched" grass, where we began to rip up the lawn to lay cedar chips under the structure. This plan was quickly aborted and we stuck with the grass, au naturel.

Trees!

We recently picked up Estelle's tree, given to her by the great province of Quebec, upon proff of her birth. She received a tiny little black cherry tree, and we planted it in the yard where last year's apple tree used to be (which was gobbled up by bunnies over the winter)

It's about the same size as Estelle!

We're going to need more dirt in the wheelbarrow (no little girls this time)

Alice took this opportunity to take care of her own "birth tree"; a japanese lilac, which is growing quite nicely.

Are you sure that hole is big enough, dad?

Just a little more water...

(p.s. what do you think Alice will say later in life about us dressing her as a purple monster?)

"Dad's home - I can eat!"

Estelle waited patiently for her father's arrival to try her first bite (slurp) of yummy cereal. Barley! She seemed a little confused by the whole process, but opened her mouth (sort or) and reached for the spoon (tentatively). We call it a success!
